The strange comeback of neoconservatives

One would think they would be long gone, disgraced after promoting American interventions in the Middle East, which brought out such horrors as ISIS and helped turn Iraq into an Iranian ally. But no, because they jumped on the Trump haters train, they somehow became acceptable in democratic circles.

I don’t agree with Tucker Carlson on many issues and then, as long as I can remember, I was no fan of Fox News. On the contrary, Fox News always meant the worst in journalism to me. Although, after all the lies most of the mainstream media has served over the past years, I can’t really say it is the worst of the bunch. Anyway, Carlson had two interesting confrontations with Ralph Peters and Max Boot and he asked some valid questions.

The amount of hate coming out of Peters and Boot was almost unbelievable. That is, if one wouldn’t know where they are comming from. Russia was portrayed as almost a nazi regime, Iran the same, both some kind of pure evil threatening US. Carlson had a good point, that US should cooperate with Russia in fight against ISIS, which seems reasonable, but both detested that.

Shock and awe in Iraq

The truth is, people like Boot and Peters should have no platform to spread their nonsense. They lie, Russia is some evil force trying to destroy US, even if this is not the case. They are promoting a conflict, which could lead to a war, nobody can win. Even a nuclear exchange. One shoud remember, they are the same people, who brought nothing but destruction to the Middle East, and so not someone, one should trust they know what they are doing. Other than sowing chaos, which leads to incredible loss of life. Most of the troubles in the region stem from US invasion of Iraq in 2003, which was in essence just a part of a grand plan, to destroy many other hostile regimes.

And yet, they are still there.

It is unfortunate, that neoconservatives act like parasites, who abandoned the republican party, just to find a new host in the democrats, because Donald Trump so much as hinted at a more isolationist foreign policy. Hillary Clinton turned out to be more to their liking, more of a hawk, which really tells you something about her. Tales about some nefarious Russian plot are only that, tales used to manipulate some Americans to subvert Trump. In reality, though, neoconservatives have a goal, which they share with the democrats, to escalate with Russia, even to a point of open conflict. If Hillary would have become president, that would have happened by now, with Trump it is harder to achieve.

Neoconservatives belong to the dustbin of history. Because, if given a chance, they will cook up another war, with dreadful consequences.
